Pitches for World Cup may be slightly different, so I think it's a luxury to have four spinners: Ian Bishop
"I think Rinku Singh has done enough in international cricket. He averages well over 60 or 70 in T20Is to hold a place in the 15," Bishop said.

Former Australia cricketer Aaron Finch gave his initial reaction to the squad selected by the BCCI for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. "I was surprised by the four spinners as well. I had Rinku in there and only two spinners. In my initial squad, I had the extra quick because I think, because of the inconsistency that we have seen with everyone bar Jasprit Bumrah with the ball, especially in the powerplay, I wanted the extra cover of that quick. And if they want to play three spinners in the game, one of them has to be prepared to bowl in the powerplay, and I don't see any of those guys doing it consistently, so I think they've backed themselves into a corner slightly."
Speaking exclusively to Star Sports, former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop expressed his surprise in what he expected the squad to be for the T20 World Cup. "Well, if you're talking about surprises, first you have to establish the fact that India has so much talent that you've got back up for every position, times over. So if you're talking about surprises, I think Rinku Singh has done enough in international cricket. He averages well over 60 or 70 in T20Is to hold a place in the 15. So that's the only thing that had my ears sticking up. So I'm only saying that the extra spinner, someone like Axar, has been preferred to Rinku."
I guess spin will play a part in the tournament: Ian Bishop
Former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop opined on how the pitches may behave in the West Indies and the US for a major tournament like the T20 World Cup.
"I guess spin will play a part in the tournament. The only concern I have is that the pitches for the World Cup may be slightly different from the ones we have seen in bilateral series or domestic tournaments. So I think it's a luxury to have four spinners rather than it being a necessity," Bishop concluded.
Former India cricketer Deep Dasgupta spoke on whether Hardik Pandya’s poor form in the IPL will be a factor in his selection in the T20 World Cup squad.
"Not that much. I don't think so. I mean, obviously, the IPL is a very important tournament, but you've to also keep in mind about the credit they have achieved in the past, how they've done in the past, and I think Hardik has done alright. We've seen him bat down the order, and that's where he will be expected to bat. He's played a couple of good innings; he's bowled alright. I'm not going to be too worried with what he's done so far in the IPL. I think he's a match-winner both with the bat and at times with the ball as well. But just with the four spinners, it also kind of premeditates the kind of pitches that we may expect in the Caribbean. We may see the pitches that help the spinners more," Dasgupta stated.
