Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) will play match no. 5 of the ongoing sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on a doubleheader Super Sunday, April 02, 2023, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Both sides will clash again in the reverse fixture in match no. 54 on Tuesday, May 09 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
RCB have been the in-form team in the past three seasons as they have managed to reach the playoffs in all those editions. Last season, their campaign ended with a defeat at the hands of Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 in Ahmedabad.
Jos Buttler hammered an unbeaten century to end all the hopes of RCB winning their maiden IPL title. On the other hand, MI experienced one of their worst seasons as they finished rock bottom in the tenth position in the points table with just four victories in 14 league stage games.
Selection-wise, RCB have added England pacer Reece Topley and replaced the injured Will Jacks with New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell. MI’s bowling attack looks weaker in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah but has the fiery pacer Jofra Archer in their ranks. Aussie all-rounder Cameron Green will also make his IPL debut when he takes the field for MI. An exciting clash between two rivals awaits cricketing fans across the globe.
