Punjab Kings (PBKS) will take their second shot at making the final of IPL 2025 (Indian Premier League) when they take on Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Punjab Kings went down emphatically to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1, held at their own home in Mullanpur. RCB's bowlers, led by Josh Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma, sent the PBKS batters falling like ninepins on a not-so-tough surface. Phil Salt then slammed a quick fifty to get RCB to their first IPL final in nine years.
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, reached Qualifier 2 by downing Gujarat Titans in the Eliminator, also held in Mullanpur. Rohit Sharma and Jonny Bairstow got off to an explosive start that laid the foundation for a record total. Quick cameos from Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya gave MI the cushion they needed.
The early dismissal of Shubman Gill rocked the Titans' chase. Kusal Mendis also departed after a short cameo. Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar’s partnership kept GT in the hunt, but Jasprit Bumrah broke that stand and made life difficult in the death overs. Once Bumrah was done, GT found the target a mountain too tall to climb, ending their campaign in IPL 2025.
PBKS and MI have faced each other once in the tournament before – at Jaipur. Suryakumar Yadav's fifty, coupled with starts from a few other batters, gave MI a total that was just about par. Punjab started slowly, but Josh Inglis and Priyansh Arya scored fifties that got the hosts home with an over and a half to spare.

Player battles to watch out for in Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians IPL 2025 clash, Qualifier 2:
1. Suryakumar Yadav vs Yuzvendra Chahal

Suryakumar Yadav is known to be one of the most prolific players of spin in the world, but Yuzvendra Chahal has consistently kept him under control in the IPL. So far, Yadav has made 83 runs off 71 balls against Chahal, while being dismissed three times – for an average of 27.67 and a strike rate of 116.90.
2. Marcus Stoinis vs Jasprit Bumrah

In what was a dismal show by the PBKS batters in Qualifier 1, all rounder Marcus Stoinis was the only silver lining. He will now face Bumrah in Qualifier 2, but the memories are not pleasant for him. The ever-dependable Jasprit Bumrah has conceded just 28 runs in 36 balls and dismissed Stoinis three times in the IPL so far, giving the Australian an average of 9.33 and a strike rate of 77.78 against the Indian pacer.
