Virat Kohli has emerged as one of the greatest cricketers the world has ever been a witness to. He made his international debut against Sri Lanka back in 2008 and hasn’t looked back ever since. The Delhi-born cricketer has scored 38 and 24 centuries in ODI and Test cricket respectively. Recently, he became the fastest batsman to 10,000 ODI runs, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar.

He achieved the feat in the second match against the Windies in Visakhapatnam. He also panned out to be the first Indian batsman to notch three consecutive ODI centuries and the 10th overall batsman to accomplish the feat. In the T20I format, he has over 2000 runs with as many as 18 half-centuries to his credit. He is also the second fastest batsman to 1,000 T20I runs.

Virat turns 30

The cricketer has also been a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL). Albeit his team hasn’t been impressive over the past few seasons, he has been stupendous with the bat in hand, scoring tons of runs in almost every season. He is currently on a break as India are locking horns with Windies in the three-match T20I series.

However, he is scheduled to be back for the T20I series against Australia, which gets underway on November 21 at The Gabba in Brisbane. The focus will also be on Kohli for the four-match Test series against the Aussies. Kohli is also expected to play a crucial role in the upcoming World Cup in England and Wales, which starts on May 30.

It will also be Virat’s third World Cup as a cricketer after he played his first in 2011. In the meantime, Virat has turned 30 today and wishes have poured in for him from every nook and corner of the country. Even the cricketing fraternity gathered together to wish him on the auspicious occasion.
