In the third match of the historic England-West Indies Test series, the visitors, after winning the toss, put the Three Lions to bat. It was Rory Burns who turned heads by delivering an impressive and resilient 57-run knock at the start. The Joe Root-led side lost four wickets at the end of the second session as Kemar Roach plucked the vital wickets of Dom Sibley and Ben Stokes. Stokes, the man in form, stood in disbelief as a full delivery off Roach broke the all-rounder’s defence and rattled the stumps.
Both the sides will be aiming to topple each other in the Test for clinching the series victory. India legend Sachin Tendulkar and cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra were all praises for Ollie Pope after he took the guard.
Both the former players compared Pope with ex-England cricketer Ian Bell. According to them, Pope’s stance, as well as technique, was similar to Bell. Both England and West Indies also sported red in honour of Sir Andrew Strauss’s late wife Ruth. The Test has also been named The Ruth Strauss Foundation Test.
Twitter also was flooded with updates regarding the much-awaited IPL 2020. The cash-rich league, after being postponed in March due to COVID-19 outbreak, is all set to hit the floors in September.
The BCCI has chosen UAE as the preferred venue of the tournament amid coronavirus pandemic. Many fans expressed their excitement as their dream of witnessing the T20 extravaganza this year is on the verge of becoming a reality. Many India stalwarts including MS Dhoni are expected to brace the field for their respective IPL franchises.
India Test opener Mayank Agarwal also shared a clip of him interviewing skipper Virat Kohli. The current India captain opened up on his lean patch in England in 2014 and revealed how he turned the tables round in 2018.
