The IPL women’s’ exhibition game took place with various international players taking part in the one-off game. The list included high profile players like Suzie Bates, Danielle Wyatt, Alyssa Healy, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, etc. It was a tremendous decision taken by the BCCI to encourage Womens’ cricket.

The Trailblazers were led by Smriti Mandhana while Harmanpreet Kaur was captaining the Supernovas. The clash took place at the Wankhede Stadium, just before the first qualifier between the Chennai Super Kings and Sun Risers Hyderabad. The Supernovas attained a last ball win.

England cricketer Danielle Wyatt batted well. Opening for the Supernovas, she scored a quickfire 24(20). However, there was one gesture which won her many hearts of the fans. Usually, she wore the jersey no.28 when playing for England or any other team.

However, in yesterday’s game, she was sporting jersey no.22. The reason behind this was the date of 22nd May. Just one year ago, she was present at the Ariana Grande concert at Manchester which saw a terrorist attack at the end. Many people lost their lives and today marked the first anniversary of the attack.

This was pointed out by cricket broadcaster Isabelle Westbury on Twitter. She posted two pictures, one with the jersey no.22 of Danielle Wyatt and another where she was in action during the game. She described her as an inspiration as the whole Twitter praised her for the same.

Here’s what she tweeted

“One year ago today @Danni_Wyatt went to watch Ariana Grande in concert. Today she wore #22 in the inaugural #IPLwomen match. Poignant. Inspirational. Hope. #mcrtogether”

Last year, Wyatt was amongst the crowd that witnessed the Ariana Grande concert. As the news was reported, many people were concerned about her well being. She posted a tweet thanking all of them for asking and offered her condolences to those who lost their loved ones.

Here’s what she had tweeted:-

“Thank you for all msgs- im safe. Was at the concert enjoying myself like many others – thoughts with victims & families. #WeStandTogether”
