Dhaka Dominators (DD) and Fortune Barishal (FBA) lock horns in Match no.31 of the ongoing ninth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet. Both teams met previously in Match no.20 in Chattogram where Barishal emerged victorious by a margin of 13 runs.
Speaking about the form, the Dominators have had a calamitous campaign as they have played nine matches with just two wins and seven losses. Interestingly, both of their victories have come against Khulna Tigers in BPL 9. With four points and a net run rate of -0.968, Dhaka is languishing down at the sixth position in the table. On the other hand, the Barishal is enjoying a solid tournament so far as they have played eight games and won six, and lost two. Coincidently, even their two losses have come against the same team, Sylhet Strikers. With 12 points and a positive NRR of 0.781, they are placed in the second spot in the table. Experienced campaigner Shakib al Hasan has scored the most runs (104) in these fixtures followed by Mahmudullah (85) and Tamim Iqbal (66). In the bowling department, Dwayne Bravo and Shafiul Islam have picked up three wickets each followed by Nasir Hossain, Shafiqul Islam, Shakib, Mehedi Hasan Rana, Alzarri Joseph, Andre Russell and Isuru Udana (two each).
As mentioned above, both teams have already met this season and Barishal sealed that contest by 13 runs margin.
