Deandra Dottin may require titanium plates to repair fractures in cheekbone

Deandra Dottin was on the receiving end of a terrible collision with her teammate Laura Harris whilst playing in the Women’s Big Bash League in the Allan Border field in Brisbane. The incident saw both players come together with Dottin hurled onto a few kit bags while Harris crashed into the picket fence a few yards away.

Dottin was rushed to the hospital wherein a concussion was feared. However, following a few medical procedures and a X-rays, it was revealed that she had suffered a few fractures on her cheekbone. The West Indies all-rounder took to Social Media handle Facebook to give an update on her situation. She stated that she was ok following the clash and was recuperating.

A report also suggested that Dottin would be requiring titanium plates to repair damage to her face. The Brisbane Heat management went on to further state that she had avoided injury to her eyes and mouth.

“I’m ok now after a very painful head clash today with my teammate Harris [sic],” Dottin wrote on her Facebook page. “I went to the hospital for scans which have now revealed that I have multiple fractures of my cheekbone. Eye socket and eyesight are fine, Jaw and teeth fine.”

Deandra Dottin also went on to state that she had recovered and was also discharged from the hospital. She thanked the Heat’s medical staff for their support for the same.

“I am out of hospital now, recovering before a specialist appointment with a face surgeon on Thursday. At this stage, it is believed I will require titanium plates to fix the issues. All is going to be fine! I must thank dearly the Brisbane Heat coaching, support and medical staff who have been very professional, helpful and caring to me.”
