As opposed to the Test series against South Africa, the Indians have gone ahead and named three spinners with Kuldeep Yadav being one of them. The chinaman, who has more or less cemented his place in the Indian ODI side has played ever so sparingly in the Test team. Having made his Test debut a considerable time ago, Kuldeep has been touted by many to be a part of the Test side as well.
In the context of the five-match Test series, Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have made their way back into the Test side. However, veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh reckons that Kuldeep would be picked to face up to the might of England ahead of either of these two.
“If it comes to one spinner that I have to choose, I’ll pick Kuldeep Yadav. In these conditions, he is someone, who has bowled a lot in last six games or so and he has been one of the picks of the bowlers from the Indian point of view.
‘Kuldeep will be key for India in Tests’
Harbhajan also believes that the chinaman would be key for India in Tests. In spite of England seemingly cracking the code of playing the southpaw rather easily, Harbhajan believed that he would indeed go ahead and pick Kuldeep ahead of Ashwin or perhaps even Jadeja. India will face the Brits in the first Test on August first at Edgbaston.
“Yes! England has managed to play him well in the last two games or so but I still think that Kuldeep will be the key man for India going forward in this Test series. If at all I have to pick one spinner, I’ll pick Kuldeep ahead of Ashwin,” Harbhajan said.
