England batsman Joe Root gets engaged to his girlfriend Carrie Cotterell

English batsman Joe Root was the man of the match in the improbable England win over South Africa in Mumbai, where England chased 229 runs against South Africa. But Joe Root made his World T20 more beautiful for himself by getting engage to his girlfriend of over two years Carrie Cotterell.
Root had gone down on one knee and asked Carrie who works as a medical representative before leaving for India for the World T20. Carrie said yes and the 25-year-old Root translated that success on the field as well for England.
Joe Root and Carrie Cotterell have been dating for less than two years before Root asked her to marry him.
Joe Root smashed 83 runs from 44 balls to help England chase down a massive 230 runs to win. England had lost their first match after Chris Gayle did what he is known for in T20s and scored a century chasing 180 odd to win. Root said that “It’s a massive result and it’s filling us with confidence now.At the halfway stage we were up against it but the fact we can pull performances like that out with the bat will give us a lot of confidence going into the rest of the group stage and hopefully further on as well.
He continued, “To do something like that in a World Cup is very special for me personally. There’s no better feeling than winning a game of cricket when you’re up against it. More than anything I can’t wait to get back in the dressing room and celebrate with the boys.”
Root is expected to break most of the batting records in the Test, ODI and T20 formats. He already boasts of an impressive strike rate of 140+ in the T20 format. England will return to the field against Afghanistan in Delhi on Wednesday and then will face Sri Lanka in their last and final group match on Saturday.
Since they lost their opening match against West Indies, England needs to win both of their matches in order to have any chance of qualifying for the semi-finals.
