England vs India, 2018: Test series – Approaching milestones

England and India were even-stevens at the end of the limited-overs leg of the tour that included a 3-match T20I series followed by 3-match ODI series. The visiting side took the honours of the T20I series while the hosts won the ODI series after being 0-1 down. Both the sides have filled their teams with Test specialists coming into the 5-match series including some surprise calls but there are not many new faces in either of the squads.

All the approaching milestones for the players ahead of the England-India Test series:

98 – Ben Stokes is two wickets short of 100 wickets in Test cricket. Once he gets there, Stokes will also complete the double of 2000 runs and 100 wickets in this format.


393 – Ishant Sharma needs seven more wickets to complete 400 wickets in first-class cricket while chinaman Kuldeep Yadav is 10 wickets away from completing 100 wickets in the FC cricket.


490Adil Rashid requires 10 more wickets to complete 500 wickets in first-class cricket. Rashid has taken 490 wickets in 166 FC games at an average of 35.07 but hasn’t played a first-class game yet in 2018.


945 – Runs Jos Buttler has scored in his 20-match Test career thus far. Once he gets to 1000, he will become the 2nd English player to get to the mark runs in all the three International formats.


2893 – Ajinkya Rahane is 107 runs away from 3000 Test runs. The Indian vice-captain (8901 FC runs) will accomplish 9000 first-class runs with 99 more runs.


2961Ravichandran Ashwin has scored 2961 runs in his International career thus far. He needs 39 more runs to become the 17th player and only the 4th Indian to take 500+ wickets and score 3000+ runs in International cricket.


2976 – Stuart Broad needs 24 more runs to complete 3000 runs in Test cricket. Broad will become the 9th player to score 3000+ Test runs and secure 300+ Test wickets when he completes the milestone.


3907 – Murali Vijay is in need of 93 more runs to become the 16th Indian player to complete 4000 Test runs. With another 195 runs, he will become the 4th Indian to score 4000 Test runs as an opener.


4900 – Ravindra Jadeja has scored 4900 runs in his first-class career thus far and is just 100 runs short of the 5000 runs mark. The left-handed all-rounder is also four runs away from completing 10000 runs in his professional career.


5960 – Joe Root needs 40 more runs to complete 6000 runs in the Test format. He will become the 4th fastest England player to reach the milestone if he scores those 40 runs in the next Test innings.
