Kakinada Kings (KNK) will face Amaravati Royals (AMR) in the first match of the Andhra Premier League 2025 on Friday, August 8, at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. It is the fourth season of the tournament. The third season had six teams, and that has been increased to seven for this year.
The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) held a fresh franchise auction for this season, and seven new teams have been introduced. The Kakinada Kings are owned by RK Sports. KS Bharat will lead the side this year. Amaravati Royals would be captained by Hanuma Vihari, and the team is owned by Aparna Marine Exports.
Vizag Warriors were the winners of the last edition of the tournament. The KS Bharat-led side defeated Uttarandhra Lions by 87 runs after posting a total of 189 runs for the loss of five wickets on the board. Ashwin Hebbar scored an unbeaten 91 runs off 56 deliveries and won the Player of the Match award. He finished the season with 456 runs to his name and won the Player of the Tournament award as well.
