Sachin Tendulkar’s fandom throughout his illustrious career has left the cricketing world awestruck. He made own a plethora of records in a career which spanned 24 years. The right-handed batsman was a brute force to reckon with in both ODI and Tests. The legendary sportsman hung his boots back in 2013 after playing in front of his home crowd at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Even after his retirement, Sachin didn’t extricate himself from his favourite sport. Recently, it has been learned that he will launch his all-sports academy in Mumbai in November. The academy will be set up in collaboration with Middlesex Global Academy. The Maharashtra-born cricketer recently updated about the structure of the academy and its various facilities, surrounding different sports.

The idea is to have these academies world over

“It’s not just a cricket ground with nets and practice facility. We’re planning a big academy where a sportsperson will have the required arrangements to play all sport, from squash to badminton to swimming, table tennis and tennis. We want to make the academy on the lines of Cricket Club of India (CCI) or Bombay Gym. That is the vision,” Tendulkar was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror.

Sachin also mentioned that the feedback has been positive and people have shown interest in the same. The initial launch of the academy will take place in London after which Mumbai will launch the same in November and Sachin Tendulkar put forth the rainy season as a reason for delaying it in India. Moreover, he talked about his ambition of making it a worldwide affair, rather than confining to the Test playing nations.

“The launch will have to be in London and Mumbai, although it will have a global reach. Initially, it will be in London. In Mumbai it will be in November because of the rains. The idea is to have these academies world over, not just in Test playing countries but beyond that,” the former cricketer added.

“The coaching manual has to be worked upon extensively. Coaches will be available for schools, institutes and colleges. The plan is to add value to sports-persons’ skills,” he iterated.
