Social media went into a frenzy as the Indian skipper Virat Kohli tied the knot with actress Anushka Sharma. In a private ceremony in Italy, the couple got married in a ceremony that was attended by close friends and relatives of the cricketer and the actress.

Twitter was filled with posts for Virushka all over as soon as the news was made official. Right from the biggest names in Bollywood to the cricket stars, people adored the couple on the occasion. Everyone from Shah Rukh Khan to Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to portray their best wishes for the couple.

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir also took to Twitter to wish them loads of happiness. Both Gambhir and Kohli, the Delhi cricketers were a part of a famous partnership in the World Cup 2011 final that paved India’s way to victory. Both have also been teammates playing for Delhi.

Here’s what Gambhir tweeted:

My best wishes @imVkohli n @AnushkaSharma on tying the knot. God bless u both with all d happiness, health and peace…hugs #virushkaKiShadi #ViratKohli

While they shared a great chemistry while playing for India, their relations took a sour turn later. Both indulged in an altercation on the field in 2012. Things have never been the same ever since then. Whenever their teams have clashed in the Indian Premier League, both have been fired up to display their potential best in the field.

Meanwhile, Virat had earlier taken a break from the international schedule sighting rest. While there were speculations regarding their marriage in the media, it became official only after they posted pictures from the wedding ceremony.

He isn’t featuring in the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. Rohit Sharma was named the Indian captain in his absence. However, the Indian skipper is slated to return to action for the South African tour commencing early next year. His presence was sorely missed in the first ODI against Sri Lanka. India will be focusing to make things right in the ongoing series.
