Former Sri Lankan pacer Graeme Labrooy is likely to replace Sanath Jayasuriya as the Chairman of cricket selectors. The Lankans will play a series of two Test matches, five ODIs and three T2oI games, later this year. The development in the SLC board is expected to be made official soon. The Jayasuriya committee had earlier resigned at the conclusion of the forgettable home series against India.

Sri Lanka lost the Test series 3-0, followed by a 5-0 clean sweep in the ODI series and a loss in the one off T20I game at the end. Labrooy is currently working as a match referee, and he is likely to take on the hot seat soon.

The members of the new committee, headed by Lebrooy, is yet to be named but SLC may invite Eric Upashantha and Ranjith Madurusighe to be part of the new committee. According to Mirrorcricket, SLC has invited former Sri Lanka opener Malinda Warnapura also to join the new committee along with veteran coach and administrator Jayantha Seneviratne.

SLC has Arvinda de Silva in mind

It has been earlier reported that SLC are trying to convince former legendary cricketer Arvinda De Silva to head the advisory committee. “With the Sri Lankan team in total disarray, we need someone with Aravinda’s vision to put things back on track. He will be given full control over matters pertaining to international cricket,” a senior SLC official was quoted as saying by told Cricbuzz on Sunday.

According to reports, de Silva’s first assignment will be to find a replacement for coach Graham Ford. Ford has resigned earlier in June. “He wasn’t very keen when we first approached him as he is heavily involved with his business. But we have convinced him to help us out with the Sri Lankan team in dire straits,” the Cricbuzz source added.
