In Match 51 of the Indian Premier League 2022, Gujarat Titans (GT) will face the Mumbai Indians (MI) team. The Titans occupy the pole position in the points table with eight wins in 10 league matches. On the other hand, MI are languishing at the bottom of the table with just one victory in nine appearances.

In their last league fixture against Punjab Kings (PBKS), the move to bat first backfired for GT. The team could post only 143, with Sai Sudharsan emerging as the top-scorer with 65* off 50 balls. The bowlers were average and the opposition chased down the score in 16 overs.

MI secured their first victory of this season in their last outing against Rajasthan Royals (RR). The team’s bowling performance was impressive as they restricted the Royals to 158, with Hrithik Shokeen and Riley Meredith taking two wickets each. In the batting department, Suryakumar Yadav scored 51 and Tilak Varma garnered 35.

Pitch and conditions

The Brabourne Stadium has had a belter of a surface and a run-fest is expected. The flat pitch and short boundary dimensions are likely to provide assistance to the batters. The teams will look to bat first and post a big score.

Playing combinations for GT vs MI

Gujarat Titans

Titans have done most things right in their debut IPL season, with the balanced team leading to good performances. The top-order has been inconsistent, while the middle-order has excelled on most occasions, barring the last league match. The bowlers have been average and need to improve their performances to continue the momentum for the team.

The team is not expected to make any changes in this game. Youngster Sai Sudharsan has returned with fine performances in each of his appearances. Pradeep Sangwan is expected to retain his place due to the experience in the T20 format.

Probable XI: Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Hardik Pandya (c), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Alzarri Joseph, Pradeep Sangwan, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami

Mumbai Indians

It has been a disappointing campaign for MI in the ongoing season, and they are already out of the contention for the playoffs. However, the first victory in their last league match will keep them upbeat to win the remaining matches of the tournament.

The youngster Kumar Kartikeya finished with figures of 1/19 off four overs in his debut match and has earned praises from the cricket fraternity. On the other hand, Meredith and Shokeen have doing well on the bowling front as well. Additionally, the team will look to play with the same combination of batters, and the presence of power-hitters like Kieron Pollard and Tim David will be useful for them.

Probable XI: Ishan Kishan (wk), Rohit Sharma (c), Tim David, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Kieron Pollard, Hrithik Shokeen, Daniel Sams, Jasprit Bumrah, Kumar Kartikeya, Riley Meredith
