The second season of the ongoing Global T20 Canada has reached its climax. The Brampton Wolves and Winnipeg Hawks will be playing the second qualifier to set the final date with the Vancouver Knights. The Hawks defeated the Toronto Nationals in the high-scoring encounter which ended with the DLS method coming into play due to bad light. Rayad Emrit-led side won by just two runs but the Hawks skipper was involved in a dramatic moment during the latter stages of the chase.

The incident took place in the 16th over of the second innings which Kieron Pollard was delivering. Winnipeg Hawks needed 77 runs off last five overs and the batsmen in the middle, Rayad Emrit and JP Duminy, had churned out 15 runs off just four balls to bring down the equation. Pollard was visibly frustrated and bowled a bouncer at the former which went way over the batsman.

The umpires called it a wide ball and also signalled it to be the first bouncer of the over. Kieron Pollard didn’t stop here and delivered another slower short ball which hit Emrit on the helmet and the batsmen scampered for a leg bye.

Emrit argues with the umpire

Interestingly, the umpires didn’t call it the second bouncer for the over and Rayad Emrit, understandably, asked the umpires in an agitated manner about the same. He started arguing with them over the matter and Kieron Pollard wasn’t happy with it. He hilariously took out the straight umpire’s hat and put it on Emrit’s head stating that he should be the umpire in that case.

Emrit wasn’t impressed with this as well and after duly removing the hat later, Pollard took the opposition skipper aside and had a chat with him. At the same time, Yuvraj Singh, the Toronto Nationals skipper, also spoke to Duminy, the batsman at the other end, and they were all smiles about the incident.

Play resumed after some drama and Pollard ended up conceding 22 runs in the 16th over which turned the game in the Hawks’ favour. Eventually, they won it by two runs by DLS method when bad light stopped play.
