Ever since the conclusion of the ICC Women’s World Cup, India Women’s cricket team has received a lot of accolades for their outstanding performance at the mega event. Mithali Raj led the team by example and helped India unearth a lot of quality players during the course of the tournament.

India qualified for the finals of the World Cup but fell short by 9 runs to hosts England in a highly competitive final. It was India’s second final, coming after a huge gap of 11 years. In the semifinals, Harmanpreet Kaur treated the spectators with a special knock against Australia. The 28-year old remained unbeaten on 171 which helped India beat Australia to enter into the finals. Kaur played a good hand of 51 in the finale but couldn’t get her team across the line.

Datsun gifts Kaur a redi-GO

For her outstanding contributions, Datsun has gifted the right-hander a compact hatchback car redi-GO. Almost all members of the squad were felicitated by various organizations after a dream run in the ten-team event. Kaur was glad about the gift and looked forward to using the car whenever she trains in the city.

“Thank you, Datsun India, for this gesture and I am looking forward to driving the redi-GO. This makes it easier for me to move around for training, but I am excited to take my family for a spin first,” she said after being presented with the car by the company’s vice president Jerome Saigot. “Datsun is working hard to help fuel the ambitions of India’s young achievers and risers. We are delighted to see women like Harmanpreet make the nation proud. We congratulate Harmanpreet for her outstanding contribution during the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 and we are pleased to present her with the redi-GO for her sporting excellence,” he said.

With the World Cup done and dusted, India has now already started preparing for the World T20 which is scheduled to be played next year. The global event is looked at as a perfect stage to send off India’s two stalwarts: Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami who both have been top performers for the country for over a decade.
