'I don’t hate my ex-boyfriends, why should I hate?' - Actor Neena Gupta on Vivian Richards

Former West Indies cricketer Sir Vivian Richards is considered to be among the greatest cricketers who have played the game and he had a phenomenal record in international cricket. The right-hander scored more than 15,000 international runs in his career from the period of 1974 to 1991. Having toured India a number of times in the 1980s, Richards once dated Actor Neena Gupta and the couple had a daughter named Masaba Gupta in 1989.

Richards refused to leave his wife Miriam for Neena and Masaba had to be raised by a single parent, her mother. Neena married Vivek Mehra in a private ceremony in 2008. Both Masaba and Neena have been part of the cast in the Masaba Masaba series on Netflix which has been a great success so far in season one. Neena now has revealed that she doesn’t hate Richards despite him being an ex-boyfriend.

Neena mentioned that she believes that it is not possible to hate somebody whom you had loved and noted that the situation demanded them to be separate. She revealed that she doesn’t hate her ex-boyfriends and wondered why it should be done. She went on to question in a funny way why would she have a baby with someone who she hates so much.”

“I believe once you love somebody, how can you hate? You cannot live, you cannot be together. I don’t hate my ex-boyfriends. I don’t hate my ex-husband. Why should I hate?” Gupta was quoted as saying by outlookIndia.com.

“Agar koi mereko itna bura lagta hai toh main bachcha use paida karungi kyun? Mai pagal hun kya? (If I hate someone so much, why would I have a baby with them? Am I mad?),” she added, referring to Vivian.

Meanwhile, Masaba had mentioned that Neena had always taken good care of her as a mother and never interfered in the bond with her father Viv Richards. Masaba also spoke of how Neena has been allowing her to make her own decisions once she became an adult.
