Ex Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has expressed his utter disappointment with the way Pakistan played in the third ODI against England. Even after posting a huge score of 331 for 9 in their full quota of 50 overs, Pakistan failed to defend the total, thereby losing the ODI series by a margin of 3-0.

The series defeat comes as a shock to a lot of Pakistan fans as England had fielded only a second-string side in this series and Pakistan started the series as favorites. Inzamam was disappointed with the spells of bowling by Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi, who bowled slightly expensive spells.

Despite that, Inzamam felt that the tough questions had to be asked to the bowling coach Waqar Younis. Speaking in a video on his Youtube channel, Inzamam-ul-Haq termed the English players as academy players. He further spoke about the worrisome aspects of Pakistan’s bowling line-up.

Shaheen is a very good bowler but he will need to add variety to his bowling: Inzamam-ul-Haq

“If a bowler bowls at about 145 kmph and if an academy player scores off him, then we must believe that somewhere the fault is ours. I don’t understand how a coach like Waqar Younis can’t bring improvement,” Inzamam-ul-Haq said on a critical note. According to the former skipper, Pakistan should have been able to defend the huge total.

The left-arm pacer, Shaheen Afridi had a poor outing at Edgbaston. He gave away 78 runs in his 10 overs and failed to take a single wicket which caused a lot of problems for Pakistan. According to Inzamam, Shaheen can be a predictable bowler at times. He expressed that the left-armer is a good prospect but needs to add more variation to his arsenal. Afridi has become a prominent member of the Pakistan attack and in Edgbaston, he failed to deliver the goods for his team.

“Shaheen is a very good bowler but he will need to add variety to his bowling. He is a young talented bowler and can play for Pakistan for a long time. However, if he doesn’t learn and doesn’t add variations to his bowling, then it will become easier for the other batsmen to play him,” Inzamam concluded.
