Post the World Cup 2015, the ECB and England management took some very harsh calls. Senior players, who they felt did fit into their scheme of things, were all axed including former skipper Alastair Cook. This has helped the England team achieve a lot of wonders. They now play aggressive, flamboyant cricket and have been one of the most successful ODI teams in the last four years.

It has been over four decades now and England is yet to get its hands on a 50-over World Cup. The quadrennial tournament will be played in the ‘Home of Cricket’ this year. Keeping in mind their current form and the conditions that they’ll play in, England are one of the firm favourites to get their hands on the coveted title. They have assembled a strong core of players who can give any team a tough competition.

Jofra Archer – In or Out?

The England cricket team is quite settled with its starting eleven. Jonny Bairstow will open the innings along with Jason Roy. Both of them play attacking cricket and often get the side off to a flyer. Then comes in the ever-reliable Joe Root at number three. He is someone who can stabilise the innings and mould his game according to the situation.

Captain Eoin Morgan follows him next and is one of the biggest strengths for the side. While attacking is his natural game, he can also dig in and play for a long time. The left-hander has been in good form of late. In their starting eleven itself, England has got two wicket-keepers which includes Bairstow and Jos Buttler. Thus, they don’t need to look for a backup option. Buttler is the butcher and smacks the bowlers to all parts of the ground with absolute disdain.

But if the need be, he can also build an innings with the tail if there is a top-order collapse. Ben Stokes, the all-rounder, will be the floater in this line-up but could mostly bat at number five. He is a very good bowler as well and adds a whole different level of balance to the side.

Then come the utility players, Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes. They are looked more at like bowlers but help add great depth to the line-up. Their batting prowess can’t be doubted and all capable of hitting the big shots with ease. The bowling will consist of the likes of Adil Rashid, Liam Plunkett and Mark Wood.

Alex Hales will take up the role of a reserve opener but that doesn’t imply that England will not bat him at three. They are likely to use him depending on the conditions. David Willey is the backup for Chris Woakes while Joe Denly does the same for Ben Stokes. Jofra Archer has been fast-tracked to play in the World Cup and he could be the last moment addition. Morgan has hinted about his inclusion earlier.

Here is the Predicted 15-man squad for England:

Eoin Morgan (c), Jason Roy, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Alex Hales, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid, Liam Plunkett, Mark Wood, Jofra Archer, David Willey, Joe Denly.
