Imran Tahir becomes top ranked bowler in ICC ODI rankings: An average ODI series against England has resulted in Mitchell Strac loosing his numero uno position in the ICC ODI rankings. Starc managed just 5 wickets and was not at his lethal best. The latest change also means that Imran Tahir has become the number one bowler in the 50 over format. Tahir has been in sublime form in the last year or so and has been rightly rewarded. Many experts are suggesting that too much cricket over the last year or so is taking a toll on Starc’s body and Australia should preserve him for the crucial upcoming fixtures.
England captain Eoin Morgan who was the top-scorer in the recently concluded ODI series against Australia has jumped 11 places to the 21st position in the ICC ODI rankings for batsmen. Man of the series Mitchell Marsh too had an excellent series. He jumped up 16 places to go to 65 after his contribution of 134 runs. The batting table is still led by AB de Villiers and his colleague Hashim Amla occupies the second spot. Other players like Moeen Ali, Glenn Maxwell, Pat Cummins have also risen in the rankings.
Maxwell scored 166 runs and picked up six wickets in the series against England and has broken into the top five in the ICC rankings for all-rounders. The table is however headed by Shakib-Al-Hasan. The 3-2 series result means Australia has retained its number-one position, but has dropped two points to finish on 127 points. In contrast, England has earned two points and has moved to 100 points to narrow the gap with fifth-ranked Sri Lanka to three points.
