The Indian team finished the historic Test in just two days against Afghanistan to win the game by an innings and 262 runs. It all started with Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay scoring centuries in the first innings and Afghanistan’s collapse in both the innings. By defeating the hosts, India became the first Asian team to win a Test match in just two days.

The stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane has a piece of advice for the visiting team. He suggested the visitors to have more red-ball time within their team members by creating Test match situation in nets. Rahane went on to praise the Afghan bowling line-up and said that they can damage any top batting attack in the world.

“I didn’t expect the match to get over in two days. But you cannot blame the Afghanistan batsmen (for the collapse). This was their first match. It’s about playing five-day cricket regularly. If not matches, they have to practice with the red ball regularly and create Test match situations in the nets. Their bowlers are very good, so if their batsmen face their bowlers regularly in the nets, they can learn from it. I think their bowlers can damage any top team,” Rahane said as quoted by The Hindu.

On India’s performance

The Indian skipper also hailed the Indian bowling attack and termed it as ‘really experienced’. He also had his say on the pitch, which they wanted a similar one like the one they would be getting in England Test series. He praised the openers Dhawan and Vijay for giving a good start in the tough first session conditions.

“The biggest positive from this match was our bowling. Our guys are really experienced. They know what to do. We wanted a pitch similar to what we will get in the upcoming England series. As for our batting, the ball was moving around in the first session, so it was important for our openers to spend some time in the middle. Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay did just that, and capitalized on their start,” Rahane concluded.
