After total domination in the 2-match unofficial Test series, India A will face the touring Sri Lanka A in the 5-match unofficial ODI series. The Lankan A side lost the first Test by an innings and 205 runs but did well in the second game especially with the ball to lose by only 152 runs. The players in the Sri Lanka A would want to make an impression to return into the limited-overs squads as quite a few of them were unfairly dropped from the World Cup squad.

While the Sri Lankan batsmen bar Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Perera are struggling in the ongoing CWC, the runs kept coming off Niroshan Dickwella’s bat in the Test series. On the other hand, the India A team for the unofficial ODI series will be led by Ishan Kishan. The keeper-batsman led his team Jharkhand to the semi-final and stood among the top run-getters during 2018/19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Consistent performances from Shubman Gill and Shreyas Gopal could put them in ODI squad after the World Cup.

Match Details:

The first of the 5-match Unofficial ODI series between India A and Sri Lanka A will be hosted by KSCA Stadium in Belagavi.

The match starts at 9:00 AM local (IST) time (3:30 AM GMT).

Pitch Condition/Report:

The KSCA Stadium, also known as Union Gymkhana Ground, will be hosting a List A game for the first time. The venue has been kept away from hosting any professional game since 2001 but was used for the first of the 2-match unofficial Test series. The tracked seemed flat when India were batting as only one wicket fell on the opening day.

Team News:

(Will be added when there is an update.)

Power Picks:

Ishan Kishan will be leading India A having done a good job for the India select teams in One-Dayers. In 17 matches for India A/B/C in List A cricket, Kishan scored 603 runs at an average 43.07. He scored four fifties and a hundred in those games and done well as an opener and also in the middle-order.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Shubman Gill looks the best and safest option among the lot for a multiplier role. The young batsman had a brilliant IPL while batting in the top order. This would surely boost his confidence as he already had good stints with India A in the past.

Other Captain/Vice-Captain Options – Shivam Dube, Danushka Gunathilaka, Ashan Priyanjan, Ishan Kishan, Niroshan Dickwella, Shreyas Gopal, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Suggested Playing XI No.1 for Fantasy Cricket:

Keeper – Sadeera Samarawickrama, Niroshan Dickwella, Ishan Kishan

Batsmen – Shubman Gill (C), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Danushka Gunathilaka

All-Rounders – Dasun Shanaka, Shivam Dube (VC)

Bowlers – Akila Dananjaya, Sandeep Warrier, Shreyas Gopal

Suggested Playing XI No.2 for Fantasy Cricket:

Keeper – Niroshan Dickwella, Ishan Kishan (VC)

Batsmen – Ricky Bhui, Shubman Gill, Danushka Gunathilaka (C)

All-Rounders – Shehan Jayasuriya, Kamindu Mendis

Bowlers – Lahiru Kumara, Sandeep Warrier, Shreyas Gopal, Tushar Deshpande

Expert Advice:

India A might keep Mayank Markande, Ishan Porel and Prashant Chopra on the bench. Markande didn’t have a great IPL which could allow Gopal and Sundar to be in the starting XI. Ishan Kishan could be batting at No.5 and take the responsibilities as captain.

Probable Winners:

India A is expected to take lead against what seems to be a promising Sri Lanka A team.
