Following the 4-0 win in the Test series, the India cricket team finds themselves a bit short at the back when it comes to their spinning options. While the India cricket team management has been rather steadfast in their decisions to rest the likes of Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, there is a certain possibility that at least one of them would play the ODI and T20I series.

The Indians and the English will face-off against each other in the upcoming ODI and T20I series, both of which will be to the magnitude of three matches apiece. In addition, the India side led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be without Axar Patel who suffered an unfortunate injury.

Reports from the medical team with the Indian cricket team goes on to state that the Patel suffered a ligament injury to his left thumb while fielding a delivery smash towards him by England batsman Liam Dawson. Of course, Patel was only filling in as a substitute and it is rather unfortunate that his short time at the wicket in Chepauk ensured him an injury.

Jayant Yadav was omitted from the final Test match in Chennai courtesy of a hamstring injury he suffered whilst his training sessions. Jayant has had a dream debut to his Test career with a plethora of wickets coupled with some impressive batting performances that have seen him the beneficiary of two centuries in Tests.

With Ravi Ashwin suffering from Sports Hernia and Amit Mishra on somewhat of a lean patch in terms of capturing wickets, Ravindra Jadeja once again becomes the favorite to make a comeback into the grand scheme of things for the ODI and T20I squad.

While Amit Mishra is certain to be one spinning option, one may very well see Kuldeep Yadav get a call-up to the side ahead of a few other spinners across the country. Kuldeep has been impressive in the Ranji Trophy picking up 35 wickets at an average of 27.42 in eight Ranji games this season, besides scoring 466 runs at an average of 35.84.
