India v South Africa ODI series – Indian player ratings: The India v South Africa series has ended the visitors have won the series 3-2. South Africa 1st took lead but India bounced back to make it 1-1 and after four matches both the teams were at 2-2. But it was the final match that will dominate the talk of the series. India lost big in the 5th ODI and with that the series. Men in Blue did well but in parts and on the final night AB de Villiers and Co. brought up their best game to win their first bilateral series over India. His highest score of 150 went in vain but Rohit Sharma is a bright point in the overall gloomy series for India. He scored 245 runs at a healthy average of 49 with a match winning 138 as his best. The Indian Test skipper couldn’t save India from the blushes, as the visitors clinched the decider. He went out during crucial stages as India had to bite the bullet. He scored 68 runs at an average of 13.60 with 2 ducks to his name. MS Dhoni 7/10: MS Dhoni. Dhoni scored 202 runs at an average of 67.33 with a best of 92*. Some say the blade has caught the rust, time will draw a fair curtain on this Midas man. Amit Mishra 4/10: Amit Mishra. Certainly India’s spinners have let the team down and “Mishi” is no exception. R Ashwin 5/10: Ravichandran Ashwin. (Photo Source: BCCI) India needed the man in form to strike for the hosts, But Ashwin’s injury didn’t help matters much He played the 1st ODI and picked up 1 wicket for 14 runs. Harbhajan Singh 6/10: Harbhajan Singh. (Photo Source: BCCI) The veteran off-spinner was more of a hit and miss throughout the series. He picked up 6 wickets at an average of 35.33. The “turbunator” will not be pleased with his performance, as he failed to use the conditions to his advantage. Bhuvneshwar Kumar 5/10: Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Axar Patel tried turning the tables in his favour but South Africa got hold of the young talent and exploited him in the final. Umesh Yadav 3/10: Umesh Yadav. Umesh picked up 3 wickets giving away 123 runs in the two games he played. Stuart Binny 1/10: Stuart Binny.
