Sri Lanka’s wait for a Test win and an ODI series win on Indian soil extended for a couple of more years but they still have a chance to register their first ever International series win in India in the coming T20I series. In the absence of India’s key players in the form of Virat Kohli and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sri Lanka will fancy their chances against a young team led by Rohit Sharma.

All the key stats and numbers to look out for during the India-Sri Lanka T20I series:

3 – Number of T20Is India played in the venues of the coming T20I series. India featured in a T20I against South Africa in Cuttack and two games in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium while Indore will be hosting its first ever T20I. India lost in all the three T20Is they played in Cuttack and Mumbai.


4 – India defeated Sri Lanka in their last four meetings in T20I cricket. Overall, India won seven out of 11 T20Is they played against Sri Lanka and lost four games.


5 – Sri Lanka lost their previous five T20I matches starting from the T20I against Bangladesh at home in April. Sri Lanka’s longest losing streak in this format is seven matches last year.


24 – Jaydev Unadkat was the 2nd highest leading wicket-taker during the 2017 Indian Premier League behind Bhuvneshwar Kumar (26). Unadkat took wickets at an average of 13.41 in the 12 games he played including a 5-wicket haul.


46Deepak Hooda recorded the 4th fastest Twenty20 hundred by an Indian during the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament in February. He scored 46-ball century against Gujarat which is the fastest by an Indian after Yusuf Pathan (36 balls), Manpreet Juneja (43 balls) and Rohit Sharma (45 balls).


48 – MS Dhoni has been a part of India’s 48 T20I victories. He could become the first Indian and only the 3rd player after Shoaib Malik (61) and Shahid Afridi (57) to feature in 50 T20I wins.


49 – As a captain in Twenty20 cricket, Rohit Sharma led his team to victory in 49 out of 80 matches. Only six captains in T20 history have as many as fifty wins including India’s MS Dhoni (139) and Gautam Gambhir (97).


99 – Sri Lanka has featured in 99 T20Is so far winning 51 and losing 46. They will be the 4th team after Pakistan (120), South Africa (100) and New Zealand (100) to feature in 100 T20I matches.
