Australia is scheduled to visit India for a limited overs series which includes 5 One Day Internationals and 3 T20Is in September-October. This series will be the start of another hectic home season for India which would go on until the third week of December. As per reports, tickets for the ODI at Kolkata are costing more after imposing GST as per Government regulations.

The iconic Eden Gardens is set to host one of the ODIs of the India-Australia series, tentatively on September 21. Kolkata is also scheduled to host a Test during Sri Lanka’s tour to India in November. Interestingly, GST will not have any effect on the ticket prices of the five-day game.

The minimum price of the ticket was today increased from Rs. 500 to Rs. 650 after applying 28 per cent GST. Similarly, other tickets would cost Rs. 1300 and Rs. 1900, up from Rs 1000 and Rs. 1500 respectively. “Ticket prices have remained the same, just the GST has been added,” Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Sourav Ganguly said after its working committee meeting today.

Ganguly also stated the reason for GST not being imposed on the tickets for Test matches. “Test tickets are sold on a daily basis. It’s Rs. 100 tickets, so there’s no GST,” said Ganguly who is also the member of Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC).

Upcoming season for India at home

Currently, Indian team is in Sri Lanka and are set to play 5-match ODI series. But the more hectic schedule awaits them at home once they return from island nation post the only T20I which will be played on 5th September.

After Australia series, New Zealand will visit India for 3 ODIs and as many T20Is. Then there will be a return series against Sri Lanka for a three-match series each across all formats. The home season will end in December post which India will tour South Africa and then the Men in Blue will be on the road for some time.
