Indian batsmen with golden ducks in an innings against South Africa: India sent in Rohit Sharma one down in the second innings of the 4th Test against South Africa at the Firoz Shah Kotla to give him an opportunity to bat higher up the order since he had failed to make an impact coming under pressure in the first innings and was out for 1.
But nothing much changed and Rohit was dismissed for a first-ball duck in India’s second innings which happened to be the 14th occasion of an Indian batsman getting out for a golden ball duck in an innings against South Africa. The struggling Rohit Sharma was promoted and sent in to bat at number three ahead of Pujara after the dismissal of opener Murali Vijay.
However, he could utilize the opportunity and was unable survive even a single delivery and was clean bowled by South African pacer Morne Morkel.

Rohit Sharma’s name got listed in another list of dubious record. He became the second Indian batsman to collect the first ball duck against South Africa on two or more occasions. The previous time he got out without troubling the scorers was two years back in 2013 in the Durban Test. The only Indian cricketer to have done this more than twice is former Indian pacer Javagal Srinath. Srinath has collected the first ball duck on three occasions against South Africa.
