After a couple of resounding victories in the first two Tests at Edgbaston and Lord’s respectively, England slumped to defeat against India at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. For the first time in the series, the Three Lions looked short of ideas and eventually capitulated by 203 runs. The fourth and penultimate encounter of the series will take place at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

It goes without saying that the Poms would want to recollect themselves and make a strong comeback against Virat Kohli’s men, who are brimming with confidence following their masterful victory in the last match. India’s bowling has been phenomenal thus far and Gautam Gambhir believes that the home team won’t be undermining the visitors’ bowling by any means.

The bowlers have done a fantastic job

He also mentioned that the English batsmen haven’t yet come to the party. “England would be wary of the Indian bowling attack. Their batters haven’t put runs on the board and the middle order looks vulnerable,” Gambhir was quoted as saying by The Times of India (TOI).

In Nottingham, the Indian batsmen scored 300 plus runs on both instances and gave their bowlers the cushion of runs to work with. Thereafter, the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya ripped apart the Brits’ batting lineup with five-wicket hauls. Gambhir also reckons that Bumrah’s addition adds strength to India’s bowling while putting forth India’s requirements to come out trumps in Southampton.

“Bumrah’s comeback makes the Indian bowling lineup looks deadly. It is about Indian batsmen putting runs on the board. In the third Test, the batters put 300 runs in both the innings and the results were there for all to see. The bowlers have done a fantastic job in the last three Test matches and I’m sure they are going to continue the same,” the 36-year-old added.
