Hyderabad, who booked a last-minute berth in the playoffs after Kolkata lost to Mumbai in the last league game of the season, will now lock horns with 3rd placed Delhi to get one place closer to the final. The team that loses goes home, while the winning team will then play the losing team of the Qualifier 1 between Mumbai and Chennai.
Hyderabad, who were on a winning spree when David Warner and Jonny Bairstow were still playing the tournament, were undone by their other batsmen in the last two league games. The likes of Martin Guptill and Deepak Hooda will have to step up against Delhi, which boasts of a balanced side. Here is how the fantasy XI should look like for the Eliminator between Delhi and Hyderabad.
Team News –
Delhi
Delhi have not tweaked their playing XI much throughout the season. Kagiso Rabada is back home due to a back injury, but even in his absence, the batting and bowling department looks quite competitive.
Likely playing XI – Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer (C), Rishabh Pant (wk), Colin Ingram, Sherfane Rutherford, Axar Patel, Chris Morris, Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma, Trent Boult
Hyderabad
Former Kolkata batsman Yusuf Pathan has had a poor season throughout and might have to make way for all-rounder Deepak Hooda.
Likely playing XI – Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Martin Guptill, Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson (C), Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Basil Thampi
Fantain XI
Wicket-keeper – Rishabh Pant (C), Wriddhiman Saha
Batsmen – Martin Guptill, Manish Pandey, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Kane Williamson (VC)
All-Rounders – Axar Patel,
Bowlers – Khaleel Ahmed, Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma
Captain and vice-captain options
This season, Rishabh Pant has shown glimpses of how dangerous he can be, and how he can single-handedly take the game away from the opposition’s hands. If Pant gets going, even the best of Hyderabad’s bowlers could be found helpless. The youngster is thus a good choice for your Fantain captain.
Manish Pandey, who had a poor season this year, before getting into the groove in the two games before the previous one, will once again be looking for a big inning. If not Pandey, you can also consider Kane Williamson for the Fantain vice-captain.
This is our Fantain Fantasy XI but you’re the real expert.
