Washington Sundar made his T20I debut in December 2017 and turned out to be an effective prospect, especially with the leather in hand. A few months later, India played the Nidahas T20 tri-series in Sri Lanka and the then-18-year-old was the joint-highest wicket-taker with Yuzvendra Chahal.

Sundar got eight wickets and was also the most frugal bowler with an economy of 5.70. He didn’t play much in the next 16 months or so. But after the World Cup, the selectors have picked him for all the three T20I series. Sundar has also been part of the India ‘A’ team on a regular basis.

Of late, he has often been entrusted with bowling inside the field restrictions and he hasn’t let his team down. Sundar has done well with the bat as well with a century and three fifties in domestic cricket.

Deepak Chahar has been around for the last nine years. But it’s after the 2018 IPL that he started taking giant strides. There he played for the Chennai Super Kings under MS Dhoni. In that year, he played his maiden T20I versus England at the County Ground in Bristol.

It took him one more year to play his second game in the format for India versus the West Indies and he stepped up big time. In his first spell, Chahar got rid of Sunil Narine, Evin Lewis and <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/shimron-hetmyer-spends-some-quality-time-with-girlfriend-and-yuzvendra-chahal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Shimron Hetmyer</a> in no time and finished with figures of 3-1-4-3.

The Rajasthan pacer was also on his mark in the Mohali T20 against South Africa where he picked up a couple of wickets, giving away 22 runs in his four overs. The focus for Chahar should be to rack up more or such spells and cement his spot in the team going forward.

In the last two years, Yuzvendra Chahal has been a prolific wicket-taker for India in ODIs and T20Is. However, in the last few months, he hasn’t gotten a whole of chances in the shortest format with the management blooding in some young guns. After the World Cup, India have taken part in five T20Is and Chahal hasn’t played in a single game.

Deepak Chahar has been around for the last nine years. But it’s after the 2018 IPL that he started taking giant strides. There he played for the Chennai Super Kings under MS Dhoni. In that year, he played his maiden T20I versus England at the County Ground in Bristol.
It took him one more year to play his second game in the format for India versus the West Indies and he stepped up big time. In his first spell, Chahar got rid of Sunil Narine, Evin Lewis and <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/shimron-hetmyer-spends-some-quality-time-with-girlfriend-and-yuzvendra-chahal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Shimron Hetmyer</a> in no time and finished with figures of 3-1-4-3.

Following their dominating run over South Africa, India are now set to lock horns with Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series followed by a two-match Test series. The tour starts with the 20-overs fixtures with the opening encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
Even as the hosts are being deemed as the favourites, the Tigers can’t be considered as mere pushovers and can hit back. For the series, India have rested a number of their big guns, including Virat Kohli, their regular skipper. Rohit Sharma, the limited-overs vice-captain, will be in charge.

Rohit Sharma will have a massive task at hand, especially in the absence of some of India’s key stars. But the experience he has gained in captaincy over the past couple of years would’ve helped him to a large extent. With Kohli not in the lineup, the onus will be on Rohit to bat through the innings and guide his team to a reasonable score.
His numbers while playing the Tigers’ attack are impressive. In 8 T20Is, the Mumbai batter has scored 356 runs at an average of 44.50, much higher than his career average of 32.14. The 32-year-old also has four half-centuries, two of which were in the 80s.
Rohit also has a few ODI centuries versus Bangladesh and it shows much he likes facing their bowling. The visiting team can’t allow him to settle down, bearing in mind the damage he can inflict.

Rohit’s regular opening partner Shikhar Dhawan has blown a tad hot and cold ever since he returned after his thumb injury during the World Cup. The southpaw faltered in the West Indies, but turned up with knocks of 40 and 36 against <a href="https://www.facebook.com/crictracker/photos/a.643089012388490/3015629448467756/?type=3&amp;theater" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">South Africa</a>.
The left-hander didn’t have a great campaign for Delhi as well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, managing only 130 runs in seven games with a half-century. Dhawan is the second most experienced player after Rohit and he needs to lend his skipper the appropriate support.
He got scores of 1 and 2 in his first two T20Is versus Bangladesh, but in the last five matches, he has scored 183 runs at an average of 36.6 with top scores of 60 and 55. The fact that he averages 39.62 in ODIs against the Tigers suggests that he understands their attack well.

It’s been almost five years, but KL Rahul has been able to cement his place in neither of the three formats. The Karnataka-batsman has played a number of awe-inspiring knocks, donning the national colours across all the three versions. Unfortunately, he has lacked in consistency big time owing to which he has been in and out of the side.
In the upcoming series, he is most likely to bat at three. Rahul averages 42.80 in T20Is with a couple of tons, numbers which aren’t meek by any means. Of late, he has had to warm the benches, having gotten a chance in only the Providence T20I against the West Indies where he got 20.
It’s a golden chance for Rahul to get some decent knocks under his belt. Rahul has only played one T20I versus the Tigers back in March 2018 in Colombo and scored 24.

<h3>Manish Pandey</h3>

Manish Pandey has been in a positive frame of mind in recent times. The 30-year-old was the skipper of Karnataka in the VHT trophy and guided his team to a win at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Nainital-born was their leading run-scorer with 525 runs.
His top score of 142* came versus Chhattisgarh and it won’t be wrong in saying that he must be oozing with confidence. It’s now time for him to translate the same at the highest level. Pandey has been in the national selectors’ scheme of things after the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/predicting-indias-15-man-squad-for-the-t20-world-cup-2020/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">World Cup</a> and he will dearly wish to make most of the opportunity.
In T20Is, the right-hander has 565 runs at an average of 37.66 with two fifties. Against Bangladesh, Pandey got a chance in the Nidahas Trophy last year and turned up with 27* and 28.

He has often been guilty of throwing his wicket away. Despite his repeated failures, the Indian team management has iterated that he will be backed beeping an eye on the T20 World Cup next year.
Meanwhile, Sanju Samson has found his way back into the national squad after he impressed for Kerala in the VHT trophy. It means that a few more poor outings could put the skids under Pant and also make the selectors revisit their plans with him.
