The first thing that would pop into people’s mind after reading the title of this article is, do RCB really need another captain when they have the Indian skipper Virat Kohli as their leader? Perhaps, they do need another leader which might be a blessing in disguise in two ways.

It would give Kohli some breathing space considering his heavy workload and it pretty much can be a breath of fresh air the Royal Challengers are looking for. It’d be a tough call to make for the management as well, but after all the audacious things they’ve tried in the last few seasons, they might as well do this.

But who can they look up to as a possible replacement at the helm of all responsibilities? That’s the conundrum not just for the management, but all cricket lovers. No matter who they opt for, the choice will be a difficult one to make. Here are a few names from the current squad who might as well take the captain’s armband from next season.

Don’t be surprised even a little bit if AB de Villiers turns out to be the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore next season. It’s all perfectly set up for him to take up that duty as De Villiers, much to the agony of his fans, is a former International cricket. He confirmed that he will play domestic cricket, which should definitely include IPL.

He’s no stranger to the intricacies of being a captain and perhaps has a lot more experience than Virat Kohli. He did captain the RCB franchise on occasions when Kohli wasn’t available, but a full-time role can bring about a change in the fortunes of the club.

De Villiers clearly is one of the greatest cricketers of all time and if he can fester his infectious and audacious energy as a captain to the rest, the RCB fans will have a lot to cheer about. As it stands, ABD taking up these duties seems a highly feasible option.
