The first day of this mega IPL auction left everyone awestruck with some of the major signings made by the franchises. One would have to accept the smart choices made by the teams given that they have scouted the talent with much certainty giving more preference to the recent form and the ability of a player to change the course of the game in a fast-paced T20 format. This is the major reason that saw some of the Test specialists with the likes of Murali Vijay, Hashim Amla, Ishant Sharma and Parthiv Patel being the noticeable unsold players.

Jofra Archer goes to SRH

Playing for Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL, Archer has impressed one and all with his all-round skills that are apt in a T20 game.

He bowls deliveries that whiz past the batsmen and does have a great hand in slamming the ball hard and long, a typical Windies cricketer who has 15 wickets from the ten games that he has played so far in the Big Bash. In today’s auction, the bidding for the 22-year old new reckoning force was at its peak when finally Rajasthan Royals made the winning bid of 7.2 crore (INR) to help him named as the new edition to the Royals’ camp.

The Carribean fast bowler who was born in West Indies but dreams to play for England after 2022 can certainly boast off after mustering such a huge bid. Being an overseas player, Indian markets are always a huge source of attraction that often helps to make an individual’s career. Realizing the importance of an IPL contract, the youngster was elated as he took to Social media via Twitter to express his joy over his signing with the Rajasthan Royals.
