As the countdown to the Indian Premier League (IPL) begins, there’s a lot of excitement in the franchise ranks. With all teams set to don new-look squads, there’s a considerable amount of exhilaration regarding the teams to look out for. With a lot of young blood and newcomers in this season, the viewers would be itching to watch them in action. However, there may also be a fair bit of players who may be appearing in their last IPL.

Many players who have been part of the IPL for a long time may bid farewell. The reasons may be indifferent form, age, fitness and injury concerns. While it’s not necessary that this is going to be their last season, their selection ahead depends a lot upon how they perform in this season. Here, we have stated some of the famous cricketers who might be featuring in the IPL for the last time this season:-

1. Yuvraj Singh

The man who was one of the architects behind India’s victorious WT20 campaign. Yuvraj Singh was regarded as an enigma when it came to the shortest format. However, of late, age has certainly caught up with the senior. Just three years ago, Delhi Daredevils had brought him for an astounding 16 CR INR. Yuvraj failed to live up to the price tag as he had a poor season and was released by the franchise. Thereafter, he represented Sun Risers Hyderabad in the next two seasons.

While he did enough to maintain his place then, the Hyderabad franchise didn’t retain him in the auctions this time. In fact, there wasn’t much interest amongst any of the teams as he was picked for his base price of 2 crores by the Kings XI Punjab. Regarding his fitness issues, it seems uncertain if Yuvraj can be persisted with for a longer duration. Also with an average domestic season and no possibility of an international comeback, this may well be a make or break season for him. Another below the average season for him and this IPL might be his swan song.
