The Universe Boss when it comes to the T20 format. Chris Gayle is probably the greatest T20 batsman in world cricket. For years, he has decimated the bowlers at an atrocious and outrageous level. He was the first cricketer to win the Orange Cap twice, a feat that was equaled by David Warner last year. He has also won the maximum sixes award four times in the history of IPL, with the latest being in 2015. His innings of 175* in 2013 are highly rated as the best T20 innings ever played.

Having represented RCB for the last seven years, there weren’t any takers for Gayle in the IPL auction for the first two rounds. However, he was later bought by Kings XI Punjab for his base price of ₹2 crores. The interest amongst the franchisees in the auction is a great indicator of how things may go ahead. Also, with the big man having obvious fitness issues, this may well be the last we see of Chris Gayle in the IPL.
