Jaydev Unadkat has had an eventful year, both in domestic and international cricket. He snapped a hat-trick in Rising Pune Supergiants’ victorious campaign against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The spell grabbed the headlines and soon after he was drafted into the Indian national squad.

He made his comeback in Sri Lanka’s tour of India last year and impressed with the leather. Subsequently, he was roped in for the Men in Blue’s tour of South Africa and the recently concluded Nidahas Trophy, featuring the Lankans and Bangladesh. Meanwhile, the auction for the upcoming edition of the IPL was staged in January.

Unadkat was bagged for a whopping INR 11.5 crore by the Rajasthan Royals and he emerged as the highest grosser ever by an Indian pacer in the history of the tournament. Post the lucrative deal, even the left-arm pacer expressed his shock to the media. Meanwhile, former cricketers have also hailed the pacer for his stupendous run of form.

“He takes his cricket to the next level”- Lee for Unadkat

Brett Lee, once a teammate of Unadkat in the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011, hailed the pacer in a recent interaction with a media in Colombo. “He takes his cricket to the next level when he has to. He has got a few gears and I like how the changeup in his action as well. And that’s what you need to find in T20 cricket, it’s not all about running in and bowling flat out in T20” he said.

Sunil Gavaskar features in the commentary box for India’s international assignment and he gets the privilege to watch and analyze every cricketer. The former Indian batsman has also heaped praises on the Porbandar-born cricketer and has speculated a bright future for him. “He is a very promising bowler and will only get better with the more matches he plays. I like him,” Gavaskar mentioned.
