IPL 2018: Kris Srikkanth mentions Archer and Buttler as the reasons for RR's comeback

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been phenomenal in their last three matches and have made a strong comeback following their stutter in the mid-phase of the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise is currently placed in the third position and have a decent chance of making their way through to the playoffs of the prestigious T20 extravaganza.

Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer have been outstanding for the Royals and have played a major role in their campaign. Buttler couldn’t make much of an impact, batting in the lower order. However, after being promoted to open, he has notched five half-centuries on the trot and also have mustered three consecutive Player of the Match awards.

Jofra Archer was sidelined in their first six matches owing to a side strain he walked into the tournament with. The Barbados-born cricketer already has 13 wickets in seven games and is currently their leading wicket-taker. He has generated tremendous pace, which has ruffled quite a few batsmen thus far. Recently, Kris Srikkanth, the former Indian cricketer, hailed the duo for their contribution towards RR’s comeback.

The praises from Srikkanth

“The combination of Archer and Butler has been central in reviving Rajasthan’s dwindling fortunes. It will only be right if both are paid equal credit. To bowl four overs for 16 runs in a high scoring game, deserves special mention. The 14 dot balls from Archer were instrumental in keeping Mumbai in check and that, in my opinion, gave Rajasthan a target they could hunt down,” Srikkanth wrote in his column for the Times of India (TOI).

“There is no sight more endearing in cricket than a fast bowler rushing in and hurrying the best of batsmen with sheer pace. Unfortunately, bowlers don’t get the same adulation as batsmen and Jofra Archer must be thinking what more should he be doing to gain a piece of the limelight, one that has entirely belonged to Buttler,” he added.
