Every IPL we see a new youngster announcing his arrival on the biggest platform and this might well be Krishnappa Goutham, the Karnataka all-rounder’s season. The youngster has been impressive with the ball all season, picking up some huge wickets like Chris Lynn, Brendon McCullum, and Robin Uthappa.

But he reserved his best performance for the most successful side in IPL history, who were struggling to win games this season. Well, Mumbai seemed just a few moments away from registering their second victory this season, before this Karnataka all-rounder, who cost RR a whopping Rs. 6.2 Crore came into the fray.

The game was slipping away from Rajasthan as they needed 37 runs in 14 balls with all established batsmen back in the pavilion. Accompanied by the debutant Jofra Archer, who did a fabulous job with the ball, Goutham was keen to deliver a miraculous knockout punch and he did so in some style.

He stroked an 11-ball 33, which included 4 fours and 2 huge sixes. With 6 runs needed off 4 balls, Goutham had a chance to pick up a single, but he denied it. Well, he ensured Rajasthan got over the line the very next ball, smacking it over mid-wicket for a gigantic six. The whole team was on the field celebrating the youngster’s brilliant knock and Jaipur had witnessed an assault to remember for a long time.

One good hit, that’s all I was thinking: Goutham

Goutham, as one would expect, is the happiest man on the planet right now. As they say, there’s no better joy than helping your side win a game. He did the exact same with some clinical hitting, very much reminiscent of Yusuf Pathan in his good old days. He mentioned that the RR skipper Ajinkya Rahane had trust in him and he also had no nerves turning down that single in the final over.

“On top of the world, had a decent first-class season with the bat. My captain said ‘believe’ and that is what I did. No nerves on turning the single down. Just needed six off three balls, one good hit, that’s all I was thinking,” said Goutham after the game was done.
