The Chennai Super Kings got a taste of their own medicine having suffered a defeat in the final moments of the match as the Rajasthan Royals thumped them down to win a thriller in Jaipur. CSK’s decision to bat first on a pitch that tends to slow down looked to be working when they posted a solid score of 176/4. However, Jos Buttler’s 4th consecutive fifty since being promoted to the top made the difference for the home side. The keeper-batsman played through the chase to hand Royals two crucial points.
Jos Buttler continued his rich form with an unbeaten 60-ball 95-run knock. He started the proceedings by hitting three boundaries on the first three balls of the innings to set the mood and ensured he made most out of the field restrictions. He slowed down during middle orders but took his team over the line by chasing down 12 runs in the final over.
Buttler’s match performances were valued at 1.15 crores as per the CricTracker’s Player Value algorithm making him the Most Valuable Player of the match. Karn Sharma, who has been on and off CSK’s playing XI, was the Liable Player of this game as he bowled only one over.
All the other Rajasthan Royals players collectively earned 1.19 crores from this match which explains the dominance Buttler had in their win. Stuart Binny gained the 2nd highest value among RR players in the match with his 22-run knock that earned him 28.5 lakhs. The discarded Indian all-rounder was bought for just 50 lakhs and his match value is equivalent to 7.98 times his match salary. Suresh Raina was CSK’s Most Valuable Player in this match having scored a 35-ball 52 and his performance was valued at 64.75.
Ankit Sharma, who was brought into RR playing XI for this match, bowled only one over and was their Liable Player. Interestingly, four of the five players with the lowest value in this match are the Royals players. Shane Watson and MS Dhoni scored 39 and 33 respectively that earned them a value of 47 lakhs and 39.5 lakhs from this match.
