Rajasthan Royals (RR) pipped Mumbai Indians (MI) in their own den on Sunday and have kept their hopes of the playoff qualification alive. Very few had given them the chance to even come back after they were constantly underperforming. But now they have won three back-to-back games and can have a real shot at the knockouts. Their mentor Shane Warne was set to end his journey with the team after the game and had also posted about it on social media. However, the owners now want him to stay for one more game and have cancelled his return ticket.

It was Jos Buttler who was the hero again while opening the innings for the Royals and clinched an easy win for his team. While he remained unbeaten until the end and scored 94 runs, the skipper Ajinkya Rahane supported him well to score 37 runs. Even before that, the bowlers bowled beautifully in the second half of the innings and had restricted the hosts to a below-par total which made the chase easy.

Warne’s post

Shane Warne was the one who had led the side to the coveted title in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise owners wanted him to recreate a similar environment this time around and for the same reason roped in his services as a mentor. He was about to end his journey with the Royals on Sunday after the game but with the team peaking at the right time, the owners requested him to stay for one more game and the former Australian has obliged to the same.

Warne posted the message on Twitter confirming the news about him staying in the country and now is excited about the next game of the Royals against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). “Awesome win from the @rajasthanroyals over the Mumbai Indians tonight. The boys are starting to peak at the right time and the owners have just cancelled my flight so I have 1 more game on Tuesday against KKR !!!!!!!” his message read.

Here’s what Warne had said in his farewell message earlier:
