The Indian Premier League (IPL) has started to trend more with every passing day now. After officially confirming the date and venue for the upcoming auction, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed the number of players who have registered for the mega event. A whopping 1003 cricketers have put forth their names for the auction and are wishing to play in the cash-rich T20 league.

According to the IPL official website, a total of 232 overseas cricketers have given their names for the auction. However, only 70 spots are available to make up the squads of all the eight teams and now the franchises will have now have to shortlist the names which they want to go under the hammer. They will have to submit the list before December 10, 5 PM IST and it will be interesting to see how many cricketers make it to the final list.

Players from 13 countries put forth their names

‘It is the dream of every player to play in the IPL.’ The statement is proved as the players from a total of 13 countries have registered for signing up for the most celebrated T20 league across the world. Maximum entries are from South Africa where the upcoming edition is likely to take place next year as 59 players have expressed their interest. It is no surprise that Australia and West Indies are the next in the list and no wonder most of them will be shortlisted by the franchises.

As far as the local cricketers are concerned, as many as 746 out of 800 uncapped players are Indians who have registered their names for the event.
