The Barbados-born cricketer has a fair amount of experience playing in the cash-rich IPL. The 35-year-old has plied his trade in 91 matches in which he has notched nearly 2400 runs. Smith has thus far represented Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Lions after making his debut back in the inaugural edition in 2008, but he found no buyers last time around.

In the CPL, playing for Barbados Tridents, he racked up 174 runs in eight encounters with a top score of 58 against St Lucia Stars. Smith is currently plying his trade for Northern Warriors in the T10 League at Sharjah Cricket Ground. Albeit he has had a rough phase of late, the franchises can take a gamble with him bearing in mind his decent past records in the T20 extravaganza.
