Hosts KKR had to chase a mammoth 213 against the RCB. They were off to a shaky start and lost 3 wickets for just 33 runs. Andre Russell was the last hope for the team, but surprisingly, he came to bat in the 12th over. He tried his best, scoring a 25-ball-65, but that was just not enough to get the team home.

Had the top order, particularly Robin Uthappa played with better intent, the scenario would have been totally different. Later, Russell himself admitted that he should have batted at number 4, thus clarifying the team’s decision to send him down the order a blunder. Rather, KKR not sending him down the order for 11 league matches cost them a place in the playoffs.
