IPL 2019 is fast approaching and this edition of the league will be particularly interesting keeping in mind the ICC World Cup which gets underway right after the mega-event. A lot of foreign players would be leaving the tournament mid-way to attend the camps of their respective countries for the World Cup.

Also, the Indian players who are certain to play the mega-event won’t play the entire tournament which opens the door for the young players to get up the run-scoring charts. This is also an opportunity for the retired players like AB de Villiers to stamp their authority for their respective franchises.

Definitely, there will be some new names topping the charts this season and it will be interesting to see which domestic players put their hand up and be consistent for their teams.

Here we bring you five players who will end up winning the Orange Cap:

5. Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal has been in blazing form in the past couple of years and the consistency levels that he has shown is just remarkable. A few years back, fitness kept the right-handed batsman away from the esteemed national call-up. He rectified it. There were questions about his technique, he rectified it. He wasn’t expected to fare well on his debut on tough Australian pitches but he delivered in the three innings that he featured in.

Agarwal is a compact player who can counter swing well and that’s what makes him special. He can counter-attack as per the situation or stabilize the innings in order to set-up a big finish. With the form that he is in at the moment and the Indian conditions suits his style of play, IPL 2019’s orange cap might switch hands this time in favour of Mayank Agarwal and even he would want to do it after a poor 2018 season.
