Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), despite losing their opening match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has effortlessly been the most dominant team thus far in this edition’s Indian Premier League (IPL). After the loss against KKR, the Sunrisers have literally decimated oppositions courtesy of some strong performances, especially from the likes of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow.
Their bowling has been up to the mark as well. In the last match, the Delhi Capitals (DC) couldn’t survive SRH’s wrath. The team hasn’t had Kane Williamson, their regular captain, for quite a few matches, yet haven’t fallen short of intensity at any stage. Their next match is against the Rohit Sharma-captained Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
SRH has dominated the Mumbai-based franchise in their last three matches at the venue and it’s not a surprise that the hosts are the favourites. However, they need to be wary of one cricketer and that’s all-rounder Krunal Pandya, who has been in decent form in this edition’s IPL.
Record against the opposition (SRH):
In five innings, he has scored 142 at an average of 35.5
Last time, he had figures of 0/41 in six overs at an economy rate of 6.83
Record at the venue (RGI Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad):
In three T20 innings at this venue, he has scores of 15, 47, 49*
In this IPL:
With bat – 42, 10, 1, 32
With ball – 0/12 (2), 2/43 (4), 0/28 (4), 0/21 (2)
He costs 8.5 credits in the all-rounder’s category and is picked by 53% of teams. He is an effective pick at a low cost. He bowls his quota of four overs in most instances and bats in the middle-order. Therefore, he should be a must in the lineup also because he has been amongst the runs, albeit he hasn’t picked a whole lot of wickets with his left-arm spin.
