The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have stunningly managed to defeat the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur. This has made the playoff race interesting once again the Royals also have 10 points now and they have drawn levels with SRH. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is also still in the hunt and they will step on the field with a renewed hope on Sunday.

As far as the match is concerned, the SRH got off to a not-so-good start with their skipper Kane Williamson getting out early thanks to Shreyas Gopal. Manish Pandey came out and once again played an effortless knock. He took the attack to the opposition just like the previous game and that allowed David Warner to play calmly. Pandey scored a half-century and got out on 61 off 36 balls while Warner scored 37 without smashing any four or six.

However, the score which looked good at 103/1 in the 13th over, went down pretty quickly as SRH crumbled to 137/7 in the next six overs. It was Rashid Khan‘s last over heroics that propelled the visitors to 160 runs and at that stage, the total looked a fighting one.

RR surprise by promoting Livingstone

RR surprised everyone by sending Liam Livingstone to open the innings and the punt worked wonders for the home team. The Englishman smacked the SRH bowlers right, left and centre and the wrath was faced by Siddarth Kaul and Rashid Khan in the powerplay. In no time, the Royals crossed the 50-run mark even as Ajinkya Rahane continued his confident run in the tournament.

Livingstone was dismissed by Rashid but he had done the damage by then scoring 44 off just 26 deliveries. Rahane also played well to smash 39 runs with four fours and a solitary six. Sanju Samson was allowed to bat at three by Steve Smith and he didn’t disappoint. Though Rahane’s wicket brought the tourists back in the game, Smith and Samson’s partnership made sure RR were on track for the chase.

Samson played a vital knock, in the end, to remain unbeaten on 48 off just 32 deliveries while Smith got out on 22 with the team in the winning position. Ashton Turner came out to bat and finally scored some runs to get off the mark in the tournament in his fourth match. The Royals are now at the sixth position and are getting better at the net run-rate as well.
