Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) find themselves at the bottom of the points table with five losses in six games. They started their campaign with a loss in a heartbreaking encounter against Delhi Capitals but found their first win against RCB in the next game. However, their dismal run started soon and they are yet to find glory since then.

KXIP has one of the best opening pairs with KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal in great form. However, their middle order is extremely fragile and an unreliable bowling attack doesn’t help their cause as well. To solve their finishing problems, they added Glenn Maxwell to their squad for whopping INR 10.75 crores but the popular Australian batsman hasn’t been in decent form.

With time running out, KXIP needs to find the right balance for their Playing XI as they cannot afford to lose any more matches. They have several match-winners in their ranks and if KXIP can find form soon, they can utilize the momentum for the rest of the tournament.

Here are the three ways by which KXIP can bounce back:

1. Open with Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell is one of the most attacking batsmen of T20 cricket. Though he has not been quite productive in this tournament, he is a powerful asset to have in any Playing XI. If KXIP decides to bank on him and give him more opportunities, they can make him open the batting, he can utilize the Powerplay and can provide acceleration to the innings.

Though KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal have been in great form at the top, they are not scoring at a brisk rate. If KL Rahul moves down to number three, he can play as an anchor as his strike rate has been on the lower side recently. Also, the top four of Maxwell, Agarwal, Rahul and Nicholas Pooran seem quite fascinating.

Furthermore, making Maxwell open the innings is not a random call, he had been quite successful while batting in T20Is. He has opened the batting in two T20Is till now and has scored one fifty and one hundred. If Maxwell gets going at the top, he can change the course of the match with his innings.
