Delhi Capitals lost their fourth consecutive game of the tournament as they comprehensively lost to Mumbai Indians. Nothing went their way since the beginning as MI invited them to bat first and their openers failed yet again. Their batting didn’t look in good shape as they lost wickets at regular intervals and then didn’t allow them to come back.

Defending 111 was never going to be easy against Mumbai and DC’s bowlers failed to put an impact as well. Thanks to Ishan Kishan’s phenomenal fifty, DC were handed over a massive defeat. Their next game is against RCB and it is going to be a do or die encounter for Delhi Capitals.

Here are the three mistakes committed by DC against MI:

1. No plans with the bat

DC came out to bat with a different opening combination but their fortunes remain the same. After losing early wickets, their plans were never clear and this led to their final total getting restricted to only 110. They looked like approaching a total of around 170 in the start but after losing two early wickets, they lacked a different approach and it hurt them in the end.

2. Defensive approach from Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant

While trying to build their innings after losing early wickets, their two of the most experienced batsmen were in the middle. Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant were expected to build a solid partnership with a positive approach to allow their finishers to finish on a high. However, both of them played at a very slow scoring rate and their partnership brought pressure on their batting line up. Their partnership scored 35 runs off 44 runs which was extremely slow.

3. DC looked down from the three consecutive losses

DC came into this game after losing three consecutive games and their team looked down from that. They were not near to the standard of Mumbai Indians and they didn’t look like a team who were playing a must-win game. After losing their openers early, they didn’t play positively and after bundling up to 110, their bowling never dominated Mumbai batsmen at all. If DC wants to qualify for the playoffs they need to change their intent and go all guns blazing against RCB.
