The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League has started in full swing, and players are doing their every bit to flaunt class. The cash-rich league has witnessed several teams coming and winning up trophies, but there have been sides that are struggling yet to get their hands on the precious silverware.

Mumbai Indians have lifted the IPL trophy four times, whereas MS Dhoni‘s Yellow Army has got it home three times. Talking of another star-studded team, RCB, their struggle is yet on to get hold of the precious IPL Trophy. Over the years, the RCB has hosted some of the finest players from the world.

The likes of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, are some of the great names that have been gracing the squad for a long time. But, still, the vital question remains, how long will they struggle to bring home their maiden IPL trophy? With a strong line up in both bowling and batting sections, the team has been faring well so far in IPL 2020.

In this analysis, let’s figure out three reasons in favour of RCB that can push them to clinch the IPL 2020 trophy.

1. AB de Villiers’ form and settled opening stand

Well, Mr 360 AB de Villiers is known for hitting some of the finest shots all over the field and never leaves a chance to display his finesse. The Proteas star is shining well again in the IPL 2020 season and has constantly fetched runs for his side in three outings of RCB so far. His support has always been RCB’s strength and is expected to continue in times to come.

Even after hitting a brilliant fifty in the last match, he immediately came out to his team’s rescue in the Super Over. His terrific form can definitely be one of the factors for RCB clinching the IPL trophy this season. Another feather in their cap is their robust opening stand that comprises of young sensation Devdutt Padikkal and experienced Aaron Finch.

Padikkal and Finch have been acing their jobs for their team and are expected to provide a great start in all matches of RCB. The settled opening stand can definitely become instrumental in RCB’s race of clinching the IPL title this year. Padikkal may even turn out to be the emerging player of the tournament.

2. Better bowling combinations in RCB

It has always been said that RCB lacks a lot when it comes to performing with the ball. Their show in the death bowling has also been an issue for them, but their last outing saw something good, something to stick to in the long run of time.

Talking of the 2020 season, Umesh Yadav and Dale Steyn were not getting up to the mark, and it was coming as a weak point for the entire squad. However, the last match saw coming up of Adam Zampa and Isuru Udana in the team. Udana also named two scalps to his credit and provided strength to the team.

The use of Washington Sundar saw the perfect balance for the team as he leaked only 12 runs in his span of four overs in the last game. Young pace sensation Navdeep Saini was also chosen well for the Super Over as he restricted opponents on mere seven runs. Combinations and decisions like these can definitely accelerate RCB’s chances of winning the IPL 2020 trophy.

3. Mike Hesson’s inputs and strong support staff

What goes off the field carries equal significance to what goes on the field. The support staff has always been one of the strongest pillars for the teams to put up their best forms. RCB is blessed with strong support staff, and it can be another reason for them to keep running fast in their chase to bag the IPL Trophy.

It is a well-known fact that Mike Hesson is Director of Cricket Operations for the RCB team. He is often seen getting vocal about his views on the team, how they can perform better, and what all is going inside the team. His precious and constant inputs are cherry on the cake for the star-studded line up of RCB

Hesson has also served as a coach of the New Zealand team and has a great analytical mind. His ability to point out things and suggest ideas with his analysis can make a lot of difference to the team’s performance. Therefore, Hesson’s inputs can be another strong wall for the team to hold on to in order to get the coveted trophy home.
